City Of Las Vegas Will Hold Special Election For Ward 2 Council Seat
Election Scheduled To Be Held Tuesday, June 11
The Las Vegas City Council today voted to hold a special election on Tuesday, June 11, to fill the vacant Ward 2 City Council seat. The special election will coincide with the city’s general election.
The City Council voted unanimously to hold a special election to complete the term of Steven D. Seroka, who resigned. By law, the council was required to either call a special election or make an appointment within 30 days of the seat becoming vacant.
Filing for the election will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning on Monday, March 25 and ending at close of business on Thursday, March 28, in the City Clerk’s Office, located on the second floor of City Hall, 495 S. Main St.
Early voting is scheduled for May 25 through June 7. A new Ward 2 representative is scheduled to be sworn in at the Wednesday, July 3 City Council meeting.
In the meantime, the Municipal Election cycle will continue as scheduled. Early voting is now underway for the office of mayor, as well as council seats in Wards 1, 3 and 5. Primary election day is April 2. More information on early voting is available on the city’s website at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/elections.
