\Local Barbers Invited To Participate In This Third Annual Nevada Reading Week Activity
Local barbers are invited to participate in the third annual “Read with My Barber 2018” Nevada Reading Week activity Feb. 26-March 3 to promote reading among area youth. Barbers can assist in the following ways:
Wear T-shirts to promote the week;
Make complimentary, age-appropriate books available at their shops;
Give free haircuts to youth who “read to their barber”; and
Serve as a special reader Feb. 26-March 3 at a nearby elementary school.
The Read with My Barber kick-off will take place Monday, Feb. 26, at Masterpiece Barber College, located at 3510 E. Bonanza Road, Suite 150, from 3 to 5 p.m. Children will receive free haircuts at that time if they read to their barber. Light refreshments also will be served.
Barbers who are interested in participating should call 702-229-5423. For more information, call 702-561-7976. Read with My Barber is sponsored by the Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, the Nevada Black & Hispanic Legislative Caucuses, the Clark County School District, Masterpiece Barber College and the city of Las Vegas.
