Older Homes May Qualify For Healthy Homes Program
Program Targets Homes With Lead Paint
The city of Las Vegas is collaborating with UNLV to address lead-based hazards in older homes throughout the city through the Healthy Homes Program. The program offers remediation of lead paint hazards at no cost to the resident.
The program is funded by Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control, and is designed to protect children and families.
Housing units will be assessed for lead-based paint hazards by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency certified lead-based paint risk assessors. To be eligible, a housing unit must be built prior to 1978, with a confirmed construction date from the Clark County Assessor.
Lead hazard control work will be prioritized based upon the following criteria:
a. Presence of young children (5 years or under) and/or expectant mothers;
b. Extremely low and very low-income residents; and
c. Occupied homes/units.
Lead hazard control work cannot exceed $20,000 for any housing unit., and homeowners/landlords and renters are eligible for services. For more information, contact Earlie King at 702.229.5935 or emking@lasvegasnevada.gov.
