Mail Ballot Request Deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday
Voters planning on using a mail ballot to vote in this year’s election have until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, to turn in their mail ballot request form to the County Election Department.
Mail ballots, also known as absentee ballots, accommodate voters who cannot or do not wish to vote in person during early voting or on Election Day. The request forms are available at Election Department offices and through the Election Department Web site at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov/vote.
Voters hoping to vote by mail in the Nov. 8 election are encouraged to personally deliver or fax their mail ballot request forms to an Election Department office. The department’s two offices are located on the first floor of the Clark County Government Center at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway in downtown Las Vegas, and at the Clark County Election Center at 965 Trade Drive, Suite A in North Las Vegas. The offices are open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Election Department fax number is (702) 455-2831.
Voters should not depend upon the Postal Service or any other delivery service to get their mail ballot request forms to the Election Department in time. Requests received by the department after 5 p.m. Tuesday for any reason will not be accepted.
“If you can get to the polls, I strongly encourage you to take advantage of early voting or get to your designated polling place on Election Day,” Clark County Registrar of Voters Joe Gloria said. “If you are not able to vote in person for any reason, please fill out a mail ballot request form and turn it in as soon as possible.”
In Nevada, mail ballot requests must be renewed every election in which a voter wishes to vote by mail. Voters who request and receive mail ballots can still vote in person if they either surrender their mail ballot or sign an affirmation swearing that they have not already voted in the current election. Early voting ends Friday, Nov. 4. Voters may cast their ballot at any one of the 97 early voting locations open at some point during early voting. A complete schedule of early voting sites, dates and times is available through the Election Department website. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. For more information about the elections process see the Election Department website. People without access to the Internet may call the Election Department at (702) 455-VOTE (8683).
