Southern Nevada Community Emergency Response Team, Henderson, North Las Vegas And
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Offer Free Training
Have you ever wanted to learn how to prepare for disasters, administer basic first-aid and put out fires? If an emergency or disaster happens in your neighborhood, are you prepared to help yourself, your family or your neighbors? The Southern Nevada Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) can help you learn these skills through free training. The following free courses are open to the public ages 18 and older; advance registration is required. See which of the following opportunities fits your schedule:
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Southern Nevada CERT offer a course that
runs every Tuesday for six weeks, May 2-June 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at LVMPD Headquarters,
400 S. Martin L. King Blvd.
The city of Henderson and Southern Nevada CERT offer a six-week course on
Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m., May 3 through June 7, at the Henderson Fire Training
Center, 401 Parkson Road, Henderson, NV 89011.
The city of North Las Vegas and Southern Nevada CERT offer a six-week course on Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m., May 4-June 8, at Sun City Aliante in North Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Southern Nevada CERT offer the same training in a two-day course that takes place May 20-21, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the city of Las Vegas Emergency Operations Center, 7551 Sauer Drive.
The CERT course, which is administered by the city of Las Vegas, teaches students about disaster preparedness, fire suppression, emergency medical response, search and rescue, terrorism and weapons of mass destruction. Each student will receive a backpack full of emergency supplies upon completion of the training.
