Helldorado Parade Saturday, May 16, 10 A.M.
The 2015 Las Vegas Helldorado Days celebration and rodeo will be downtown Thursday-Sunday, May 14-17, in Symphony Park. The Helldorado rodeo and carnival will be held at 100 S. Grand Central Parkway, near The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
The annual downtown Helldorado Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16. (Note this is a change from recent years, when the parade was held in the early evening.) Fourth Street will be closed May 16 from 6 a.m. to noon between Charleston Boulevard and Stewart Avenue for the parade. With 100 entries, the parade is expected to last approximately two hours. Parade entry applications are closed. The parade route heads north on Fourth Street from Gass to Stewart avenues. See the map for parade route, staging areas and available public parking. For more information on the Helldorado Parade, call 702-229-6672.
Helldorado Days, an annual cowboy-themed outdoor festival celebrating Las Vegas’ tribute to the Wild West, offers a nightly rodeo, carnival, live music, exhibits, vendors and food, as well as a parade, whiskerino contest, Farm Days for school children, and other activities. Tickets to Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeos are available online for 7 p.m. May 14-16; tickets for regional rodeo action are available for 5 p.m. May 17. Watch children ages 5-7 mutton busting each night, with mutton busting finals Sunday at 4 p.m.
Created in 1934 and produced by the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge No. 1468, the 81-year civic event has raised more than $4 million during its history to assist local children’s and veterans’ charities. Local charities The Animal Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, The Shade Tree and Project 150 will benefit from this year’s ticket sales. The parade and rodeo are sponsored, in part, by the Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial.
