Join This Community Block Party 11 A.M. To 3 P.M.
The city of Las Vegas and Doolittle Community Center invite residents to the 18th annual Unity Festival Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The festival will take place at the center, located at 1950 N. J St. Join your neighbors for this free, community block party that will offer free swimming in Doolittle Pool, live entertainment, health and wellness information, vendors, basketball clinic, soccer clinic, information booths and light refreshments while supplies last.
The one-hour free basketball clinic for ages 6 to 10 will begin at 10 a.m. inside the center. The one-hour free soccer clinic for ages 6 to 10 will begin at 11:30 a.m. Registration is limited for both clinics; register in advance by calling 702-229-6374 or in person at the center. Swimsuits are required for pool use (no shorts or cut-offs); pool rules will apply.
The city of Las Vegas provides a wide range of programming at the Doolittle Community Center. The facility offers two indoor gymnasiums, swimming pool, water tot lot, computer lab, game room, cardio/weight room, kitchen and banquet room. The center is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., providing a variety of activities. Doolittle Community Center remains closed on Sundays. Youth enjoy many sports, dance classes, martial arts, swimming, computer labs, 4-H Clubs, after-school programs, leadership training and summer camps. Adults benefit from computer training, mentoring, assistance with parenting skills, social bingo games, and exercise clubs and classes.
