Trained Volunteers Will Assist Seniors And Lower-Income Residents
Volunteers from AARP and the Internal Revenue Service Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
(VITA) program will offer residents free assistance with personal income tax form preparation and
electronic filing at five city of Las Vegas senior or community centers starting this month. Income
restrictions will apply to qualify for assistance. Volunteers are trained to assist in filing tax forms
and basic schedules including 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ for those having a taxable income up to
$54,000. Tax payers with complex returns are advised to seek paid tax assistance. Advance
appointments are required at all locations. Bring a copy of your 2015 income tax return, Social
Security card, photo identification and all of your applicable 2016 paperwork to the appointment.
Call a center below weekdays to schedule an appointment. Centers will be closed Feb. 20 for
