City Of Las Vegas To Recognize Earth Hour March 29 From 8:30-9:30 P.M.
Non-Essential Lighting At City Hall To Be Turned Off, Website To Go ‘Dim’
The city of Las Vegas will participate in Earth Hour March 29 from 8:30-9:30 p.m. City Hall will go dark for the hour, the city’s website will “dim” and programming on KCLV Channel 2 will take a break to show the city’s commitment to sustainability and energy conservation.
Las Vegas will be one of 7,000 cities, towns and municipalities across more than 150 countries and territories go dark for an hour of expressed and inspired solidarity. The city of Las Vegas has reduced the city’s total energy spend from about $15 million per year in 2010 to less than $10 million per year and has reduced total electricity consumption by 33 million kilowatt hours through solar and energy efficiency projects.
All residents and businesses are encouraged to join in the effort and be creative with their efforts. If you own a restaurant, host a candlelight dinner, or plan a candlelit game night for your family instead of a night with video games.
