Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman To Present The State Of The City Address Thursday, Jan. 9
City To Host Live Twitter Feed For First Time During Event
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman will deliver the annual State of the City address at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in Las Vegas City Hall Council Chambers located at 495 S. Main St.
Mayor Goodman will highlight some of the accomplishments of 2013 and provide her vision and insight for 2014 and beyond.
In addition, for the first time, the city will be hosting a live Twitter feed during the speech for viewers and residents to give feedback. Simply use #lvsoc14 on your posts to join in. Mayor Goodman has also invited several local social media “superstars” to attend the event and live Tweet. These are local individuals and organizations who have a high profile on social media sites. Among those who have R.S.V.P.’d are reality television star Holly Madison, hotel-casino owner Derek Stevens and representatives from Zappos.com and Three Square Food Bank.
The address will be broadcast live on KCLV Channel 2, beginning promptly at 5 p.m. Audio feed for the media will be available at the back of the chambers from the standard audio panels. In addition, KCLV will be offering an HD-SDI switched program feed with embedded or de-embedded audio at four curbside panels on Clark Avenue. If your media outlet is interested in using one of the four curbside panels please contact the Office of Communications to reserve, no later than 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Rebroadcasts of the address will air on KCLV at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11; at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12; at 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 13; at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14; and at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16. The address will also be available on the city’s Web site at www.lasvegasnevada.gov.
Editor’s Note: The media should be in place no later than 4:15 p.m. in order to minimize disruptions. The electronic media are encouraged to arrive early to do audio checks on the audio panels because no mics will be allowed on the mayor’s podium. There will be an area for media cameras provided at the back of the chambers.
These are the only areas electronic media will be able to set up cameras.
Once the program gets underway, photographers are asked to remain in their locations. However, in the event that leaving becomes necessary, the rear chamber exits should be used in order to minimize disruptions.
Following the address, the mayor will be available for media interviews outside of chambers near the City Clerk’s Office on the second floor.
Finally, parking for live trucks will be provided on Clark, between Main and First streets. All other media vehicles must park in the public parking structure across from City Hall.
