Free Income Tax Form Preparation Assistance At Las Vegas Centers
Trained Volunteers Will Assist Seniors And Lower-Income Residents
Volunteers from AARP and the Internal Revenue Service Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will offer residents free assistance with personal income tax form preparation and electronic filing at city of Las Vegas senior centers starting this month. Income restrictions will apply to qualify for assistance. Volunteers are trained to assist in filing tax forms and basic schedules including 1040, 1040A and 1040EZ. Taxpayers with complex returns are advised to seek paid tax assistance. Advance appointments are required at all locations. Bring a copy of your 2013 income tax return, Social Security card, photo identification and all of your applicable 2014 paperwork to the appointment. Call a center below weekdays to schedule an appointment. Centers will be closed Feb. 16 for holiday observance. The VITA program offers free tax help to people who generally make $53,000 or less, persons with disabilities, the elderly and limited-English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
